Previous Name: Joscelin Verreuil
Myth: Kushiel's Legacy
Past Life Information: The middle son of a conservative family in Terre d'Ange, Joscelin's destiny was set as a young age: he would join the Casseline Brotherhood, a priesthood of protectors. Cassiline brothers are sworn bodyguards to assigned charges -- they fight with daggers and vambraces, drawing their sword only to kill -- and they take three vows of celibacy and protection. Joscelin embraced the Brotherhood and its vows so much so that he considered it an insult when he was assigned to protect Phèdre nó Delaunay, a servant of Naamah (someone who engages in sacred prostitution). But it was her job to protect her, and he did, even as she fell into a world of life-threatening intrigue, sorrow, and trouble. He also fell in love with her. It is Joscelin's destiny to forever stand at a crossroads and choose, again and again, life beside Phèdre, and it has been hard for him: he's been kidnapped, attacked, and heartbreakingly for him, declared anathema from the Brotherhood. Plus, he has watched his love take over lovers and seem to not him. As his vows fall away, he tries to hold firm to his values and to Phèdre, which doesn't always work, and the time he left her service was catastrophic. Joscelin was sure that she had died, but when they were reunited, finally, he committed himself to their love, openly and fully. They do not marry, in keeping with Joscelin's last unbroken vow, but they do become official Consorts when they are finally safe.
Current Name: Quentin Porter
Age: 34
Occupation: Architect
Personality: Quentin is quiet, ambitious, and dedicated to the things he chooses to invest in: most notably, art, design, the beauty of both new and crumbling buildings. He is a creature of habit and routine, an early riser, a diligent and thoughtful person. He has a temper that he has tried very hard to reign in -- usually he succeeds, and he's deeply ashamed whenever he doesn't. He's not necessarily nice but he isn't mean. He would never intentionally hurt anyone. He's a bit of a loner and he's okay with that, but when he gives his heart to you, he means it. He's found a way to fill his life with people by sharing love.
Background: Quentin grew up in New Orleans and started sketching early. His drawings flow like water; there's a grace to the way he sees the world and creates within it. He grew up unsure and sheltered, and when he moved out of home and starting attending Tulane, the world opened up. He ended up entangled with both of his very first roommates, and while he's not with either of them anymore, they introduced him to non-monogamy and polyamory, and Quentin has never looked back. Love is safer and nicer, perhaps, when it's shared. Right now he lives with his lovers in a small shabby apartment with two small, not at all shabby cats. It's like a little family. He loves it.
